June Pre-Pharm Society Meeting
Our last Pre-pharmacy society meeting of the
year will be held on Wednesday June 4th at 5:30 in Pharmacy 305.
During the first 30 minutes will be touring a few labs in the
pharmacy building, hosted by Dr. Chrissa Kioussi. Following the
tour, we will proceed with our meeting and have elections for
next year officers. We will also be voting for study council
representatives for next year. Refreshments will be provided.
Officer Candidates for 2008-2009

I would like to run for the
position of the Pre-Pharmacy Society President because I
would love to help others discover the wonderful things
that this field has to offer. I am extremely passionate
about this career and I feel that this is the perfect
opportunity for me to get more involved by doing
something I am sure to enjoy. I believe that I am the
perfect candidate for this position because I have been
taking all of the right steps to educate myself about
pharmacy, from taking courses and researching the
subject to job shadowing and working along trained
professionals. As far as having the necessary
leadership skills for this position, I feel this is a
natural ability for me. I have excellent interpersonal
skills from working in an industry that calls for
constant interaction with other people. My plans for
next year are a whole lot more involvement from the
Pre-Pharmacy Society members. I want everyone to feel
like they have a unique role in this society. I would
like to create projects and events that everyone can
enjoy and that every member can be part of. Over the
course of time, I would hope for everyone in our
Pre-Pharmacy Society to grow close with one another
while simultaneously gaining an active role in our
community. |

I had been wanting to take a more
active role in the society since last fall. I have
participated in many events this year and I really like
getting to know more pre-pharmacy students. I used to
be in a few leadership positions in high school and I
miss planning and coordinating different events. I am
ready to take on more responsibility in the pre-pharmacy
society by being an officer. |
Secretary

I would like to take on a position
in the Pre-Pharmacy society, because I have really
enjoyed the last year of being a member. I have learned
a lot from it, and I would like to have a hand in
helping others learn more as well. I have held many
leadership positions in my past and current activities,
and I have been Secretary in my sorority (Delta Delta
Delta). I would love to take a leadership role in this
group, and be an active leader and contributor.
I am running for the position
of secretary for the Pre-Pharmacy Society because I
would like to use my skills from past leadership
roles to enhance the experience of other members. In
2006-2007, I was the Oregon State Secretary of a
national professional organization called Health
Occupations Students of America (HOSA). I was
responsible for finding sponsors, running workshops
to recruit new members, communicating with advisors
all over Oregon, keeping minutes, and planning the
Oregon HOSA Leadership Conference in which students
competed in over 50 healthcare-related events and
were recognized for their achievements. As
secretary, I hope to recruit more members to join
this society and take advantage of the unique
opportunities that are offered by this group. |

The Pre-Pharmacy Society enables
us to take a dynamic path toward our common career goal.
This is one reason why I am a member, and also why I
seek to work in greater depth within the club.
Previously, I have had experience in various leadership
positions, including secretary of my class in high
school. During the summer, I work as an office
assistant, where I am responsible for money and
accounting. Overall, I would say that I am positive and
dependable. I would love the opportunity to be an
officer in the Pre-Pharmacy Society. |
